Crowns on natural teeth: If large parts of the natural tooth crown are missing (e.g. when replacing an amalgam filling, or where teeth require root canal treatment, are chipped or have been damaged due to acid erosion), the tooth is restored with a crown.

Crowns on implants: The implants act as artificial tooth roots for affixing an artificial tooth (an ‘implant crown’).

In most cases, we can make the crowns ourselves in practice from all-ceramic materials with the CEREC system, making the solution more affordable. We work together with selected dental technicians in special situations. Thanks to the digital workflow with CEREC Connect, there’s often no need for the unpleasant process of taking silicone impressions.

If implant surgery in a gap between teeth is not an option, the gap can be closed with a ‘bridge’. The adjacent teeth act as abutments for the bridge.
 

Where there are large gaps between teeth, several teeth can be replaced with a bridge on implants.

Partial dentures are an affordable solution when many teeth are missing. They can be fixed on the existing teeth using a variety of fixing mechanisms.

In the case of edentulous jaws, all the teeth can be replaced with complete dentures.
In the upper jaw, it will be possible for dentures to remain in place due to a suction effect if the jaw ridges are good. Prostheses can be anchored on implants for extra safety.
